Finally end of september, the new central post office has been officially opened. While the architect team Schenker Salvi Weber Architekten together with Feld 72 was responsible for the design drawings, the construction company Habau took care of the implementation.
Peter Kogler designed the artwork of the inner court facade, which was digitally printed on glass by Lang+Lang using dimax®ceramic technology. Over 480 individual glass panels made from laminated glass compose a total of around 3000m2 of printed glass. The new central post office shows impressively how art in construction can be implemented at cost effective rates with strong impact.
In addition to the office headquarter, a two-floor shopping mall was integrated in the building. The mall’s ceiling glasses were printed with dimax®organic technology and additionally backlit with LED. The emphasis to create a branding in a simple but elegant way was successfully achieved.
